Traveling Around the World with Skype Actually Looks Kind of Fun
Aug 22, 5:00AM
Sure, we would all love to travel around the world and do stuff but then life, work, money and excuses get in the way. So why not try to do what comedian Mark Malkoff did? He Skyped with 162 different countries, traveling the world with technology. And though that sounds horrifying in that you have to talk to that many strangers, it's actually pretty fantastic to hear everybody's story and heart warming to see high fives across continents, scary faces made at the same time and the view of other people's life. Even learning languages looks fun. Oh yeah, Malkoff even Skyped with North Korea! [Mark Malkoff]

Here's a Map of the World Adjusted for the Population Size of Countries
Aug 22, 3:01AM
If you were to re-draw the map of the world according to each countries population, you would get a warped world that looked like this. Some giant countries like Canada and Australia become tiny strips and dots while other giant countries like China and India predictably inflate and take over the map. You can also see how crowded some countries are, Japan is bigger than Mexico! But at least all these countries made it on the map, Iceland and Belize didn't even have enough people to show up.
More Popular Idioms Translated to Make Sense with Today's Technology
Aug 22, 2:00AM
When's the last time you put all your eggs in one basket? Probably never. But! When's the last time you put all your data in one hard drive? Probably right now (you gotta learn better backup habits). And though we know that practice makes perfect and that patience is a virtue, what actually applies to real life is that Photoshop makes perfect and waiting for a page to load is a virtue.
This Hashtag Limiting Instagram Update Should Totally Be Real
Aug 22, 1:08AM
Is Instagram over yet? Or our distant relatives just finding out about filters? Wherever the picture sharing app currently stands on the sliding scale of not owning a TV to being an Oprah audience member, it's obvious to anyone who has used Instagram that people like hashtags, people like food pictures (and sunset pictures and sky pictures), people like bragging, people like quotes and people like selfies. That's really all people like. That's why Instagram should totally update its app to include all these hilarious features like limiting hashtags to 600 and adding an Inspirational Quote Generator.
How Pacific Rim Should Have Ended
Aug 22, 12:10AM
We absolutely loved Pacific Rim. It was everything a great summer action movie should be. And plus, when it's Guillermo del Toro making giant robots fight giant monsters, what can go wrong? Well, according to the well wrinkled critical brain of HISHE, Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi's characters in the movie would totally re-think the Jaeger defensive strategy. But hey, we noticed the story's various jumps in logic too. We still loved it just the same. [HISHE]
Watch a Prankster 'Accidentally' Break His iMac in Front of People
Aug 21, 11:00PM
You know that soul dropping feeling you get when you see someone drop their phone? It's the sound that's the most horrifying thing. A crisp crack that's not unlike adding ice to your soda. Painful. There goes hundreds of dollars! Now imagine that same feeling multiplied as you watch in horror as some stranger drops his iMac box and you hear the shrieking shatter. That would be awful. That would also make for a HILARIOUS prank.
What Do Car Badges Reveal About Japanese Design Culture?
Aug 21, 10:21PM
Japan has a complex history of engaging (or not) with the outside world—starting in the 1600s, when the shogunate put a strict ban on foreign trading, religion, and language. Much has changed then, but Japanese designers still have an interesting relationship with Western culture. For example: The fact that the badge of every Japanese car—even the ones not destined for exporting—is written in English.

Bluetooth Ski Helmet Speakers End Frozen Lift-Line Fingers Forever
Aug 21, 9:01PM
Some purists will definitely argue with this, but skiing (or snowboarding) isn't really complete without music. Not to mention the necessity of making and receiving phone calls with your comrades.
