Apr 10, 3:00AM

Drinking makes for awesome nights but terrible mornings. Why? Because alcohol evaporating from your body makes your throat feel forever in need of water, your brain's wrinkles feel non-existant and your life being questioned by yourself because of your own drunk decisions. Hangovers, man. What do you do to cure a hangover? Drink more? Eat pho? Anything bacon? This infographic shows what different countries do to cure a hangover. More »

Facebook Home Review: Surrender Yourself Unto Zuck

Apr 10, 1:00AM

Facebook Home isn't a Facebook Phone, nor is it really "a bunch of apps," or a new operating system. It's an admission: Facebook means a lot to me, and is an interesting view of my life—and I want to look at it all the time, everywhere I go. If that sounds like you, Home is where your heart should be. If not, your phone will become something you hate. More »

Report: Apple and Yahoo Are Working Together for Deeper Integration on the iPhone

Apr 09, 11:49PM

Apple, which hates Google, is supposedly working with Yahoo, who will take anybody's love at this point, to figure out how "Yahoo's services can play a prominent role on Apple's iPhone and iPad", according to the WSJ. This actually shouldn't be too much of a surprise as data from Yahoo Finance and weather already pops up on the iPhone. More »

Playing Tetris in Stop Motion Chalk Art Is A Lot Harder Than You Think

Apr 09, 11:00PM

Tetris, a game we all spent many a years playing in the back of classrooms, on the top of toilets and so forth, has never been played like this. Artist Chris Carlson created a 3D chalk art version of Tetris and played a quick round of the puzzle game. It's incredible how detailed it is, you feel as if you could just step right in and play the game. Except if you were to play the game you'd have to draw out each Tetris piece, note the shadows, erase the Tetris piece, re-draw the Tetris piece and keep on going. It'll take a lot longer but you'll probably have a better chance of actually winning. [Awe Me Channel] More »

These Durable Foam Solar Racers Could Last and Run Forever

Apr 09, 9:20PM

Nerf showed the world that toys made from soft foam could survive a kid's abuse for weeks, even months at a time. But guns and arrow-launching cannons aren't particularly educational. So if you want your kids to learn a little something while they play, consider these foam Volta Racers which run on the power of the sun. More »

All Booze Tastes Better When It's Squeezed From a Stone

Apr 09, 9:00PM

If you're the party-hosting kind, you've probably resigned yourself to the fact that things are going to break—a lot. But if your well-lubricated partygoers must get rowdy, you might as well make sure that the source of that rowdiness will at least stay intact. In which case, might we suggest a 15-pound, 7-inch lump of stone to serve your spirits? More »

Farming Nemo: How Aquaculture Will Feed 9 Billion Hungry People

Apr 09, 8:55PM

Shrimp fountains don't grow on trees, you know—nor do Ahi Tuna steaks, Fish McBites, or fried calamari. But that hasn't stopped an increasingly affluent human population from annually demanding more and more seafood. As a result, an estimated 85 percent of the ocean's fish stocks are now either fully exploited or overfished. But an ancient form of aquatic farming, and current $60 billion-a-year industry, may hold the key to both protecting wild fish populations and your local sushi shop. More »

You Could Probably Spend Your Entire Life On Starck's New Gadget-Friendly Sofa

Apr 09, 8:00PM

Philippe Starck is known for designs that are as functional as they are beautiful. So it's not surprising that when it came to designing a sofa, the results would include everything from privacy dividers, to accessible power outlets, to even a Powermat wireless induction charging pad. There's probably a good reason it's called the My World, because as long as your gear is charged, what else do you really need? More »

Lost Cat: A True Story of Love, Desperation, and GPS Technology

Apr 09, 7:40PM

Caroline Paul and her partner, the illustrator (and friend of Gizmodo) Wendy MacNaughton, were devastated when their beloved tabby cat Tibia disappeared from their San Francisco home. It was utterly out of character for the timid Tibby to venture far, especially for over a month's time. Pet psychics were consulted. Fliers were drawn up, posted and passed around. Regular searches were conducted across the neighborhood. It was beginning to seem like Tibby was gone for good. Then, just as casually as he'd gone, Tibby returned. More »

Giz alum Mat Honan reviewed the Big Jambox last May, and really liked it. From the (hilarious) review: More »

Apr 09, 6:40PM

There's probably rules and proper etiquette on where to place a condiment-covered knife once you've spread jams, jelly, or butter on your bread. But most of us just place it on the counter or table anyways, leaving an additional mess to be cleaned up. Is there a better way you ask? There is, this self-standing butter knife. More »

This Timelapse Turns the Moon into a Flaming Cannonball

Apr 09, 6:20PM

With time-lapse videos often covering periods of several years or more, we've been trained to to assume that, translated into real time, their subject is barely moving at a snail's pace. And this is what makes Dan Maker-Moore's incredible, 15-second time lapse of the moon rising over Los Angeles all the more astounding—the whole thing was shot in just under half an hour. More »
