Not to be left out from the copycat networks making shows about Silicon Valley, Amazon Studios is producing a half-hour comedy series called Betas. Just Kidding, Google Is Now Disqualifying Some Winners of the Google Glass Contest

Mar 28, 3:13AM

After letting people know that they owe Google $1500 for the honor of getting Google Glass early, Google busted the ol' elementary school Indian Giver on them. Meaning, some of those "winners" won't be able to get Google Glass because they've been disqualified by Google. I wonder who those people are. More »

Robin Thicke: Blurred Lines (NSFW NSFW NSFW)

Mar 28, 2:30AM

If you didn't see the headline or tag yet, please allow me to warn you that this soundtrack is incredibly NSFW. OMG SO NSFW. Hell, I'm not even sure if it's safe for YouTube. It's the music video for a catchy new Robin Thicke song with Pharrell and T.I. and it's literally littered with boobs. Very nice boobs, for what it's worth. But still more boobs for a longer period of time than you typically ever see on YouTube. There's Robin Thicke, there's Pharrell, there's T.I. and three models wearing nothing but some underwear made from flesh colored dental floss. When did YouTube become so boob friendly? More »

This Portrait of Old Star Wars Characters Should Be the Movie Poster for Star Wars Episode VII

Mar 28, 1:30AM

Since it's pretty much an open secret that the old cast members of the original Star Wars trilogy are coming back for the next movie, this portrait of them at their current age should absolutely be the next movie poster for Episode VII. Hand painted by artist Adam Schickling, the portrait captures our favorite heroes with all their beautiful wrinkles. More »

What 2000 Calories of Food Actually Looks Like

Mar 28, 12:30AM

Inspired by WiseGeek's what 200 calories of food looks like, BuzzFeed made a video that extrapolated those calories into 2000. Which would roughly be the amount of calories you should be eating on a given day plus or minus a few hundred (though who the hell would eat 2000 calories of the same food, right). The best bang for your buck? Carrots and bacon. Maybe chicken nuggets too. Definitely not anything from Cinnabon. [BuzzFeed] More »

Mar 27, 11:30PM

Here's a father that will make your heart melt in aww and a nursery that'll make you want to go back to being a kid again. Screw real life, I want to grow up again with Calvin and Hobbes. Heck, I don't care if I can even fit on the bed... I want to live in that room right now. More »

That Internet War Apocalypse Is a Lie

Mar 27, 10:28PM

You might've read some headlines today—in very reputable publications—saying that there's an online attack underway. The biggest in history. Enough to slow down the internet. This would be exciting and scary, except it's just not true. More »

Why Can't All Matchboxes Look This Nice?

Mar 27, 10:20PM

We all know the familiar, dotted pattern of a matchbox striking strip. It's distinctive, but not particularly pretty. But with a splash of color and a little geometric variation, you can actually get something worth having out on the shelf. More »

Strap a Tiny Toolbox To Your Zipper With Gerber's Daily Carry Accessories

Mar 27, 9:20PM

This Funnel Parm Grater Lets You Cut the Cheese Any Which Way

Mar 27, 9:00PM

This parmesan grater is delicious. It has a single, perforated blade that lets you grate your cheese in any direction. Best of all, there's funnel on the end of this $25 grater with a removable cover so you can direct just the right amount of cheese onto your plate of fettuccine or salad. But we suggest directing that perfectly shredded parm directly into your mouth. [WMF via Appliancist] More »

Google Street View Just Added Haunting Panoramas From the Fukushima Exclusion Zone

Mar 27, 8:50PM

It's been almost two years since the disaster at Fukushima, but the surrounding area is still off-limits, and will continue to be for who knows how long. The town Namie-machi has been vacant since its evacuation on March 11, 2011, and now Google's uploaded Street View images of the eerie, hollow shell that remains. More »

Bright Lights, Old iMacs

Mar 27, 8:20PM

Even with their outdated CRT displays, Apple's old rainbow assortment of iMacs are just too damn adorable to toss. But what do you do if you have a few still lying around taking up desk space? If you're Toronto-based travel and tour company G Adventures, you swap their heavy guts for bulbs and string them up in your offices as pendant lights. More »

Smartphones Have Ruined Our Ability to Make Wasted Fools of Ourselves

Mar 27, 8:00PM

The modern smartphone, for all its utility as a way of capturing crimes in process, waddling babies, and public disasters, has one chilling effect on society: it's now dangerous to get insanely fucked up in public. And that's a damn shame. More »

A Wooden Chair That's As Comfy As a Cushion

Mar 27, 7:40PM

Whether at school, at the DMV, or at an over-crowded family get-together; we've all done time sitting on a cheap, uncomfortable wooden chair. But it doesn't have to be that way. With just a little flexible polymer added to the mix a wooden chair doesn't need a cushion to be comfy. More »

Panhandlers Would Be Far More Successful If They Accepted Square Payments

Mar 27, 7:04PM

The problem with being a panhandler in this day and age—besides, you know, possibly being homeless—is that people don't carry coins or cash as much as they used to. It's easier to shrug off someone asking for change when you don't actually have any to give, so maybe it's time for panhandlers to start accepting credit cards. More »

A Legal Copy of Photoshop CS6 Is Your Deal of the Day

Mar 27, 7:00PM

Adobe Photoshop CS6 is the industry-standard image editing software. It's a verb. For some projects — say, making unbelievable hi-res versions of scenes from Metroid — there's no substitute. But like most professional software, it's crazy expensive. More »

North Korea Photoshopped Its Hovercraft Fleet To Make It Look Less Terrible and Sad

Mar 27, 5:49PM

There's nothing like a little Photoshop touch-up to make your navy look like more toned, suppled, and fearsome than it ever really could be. First Iran used a little editing magic to put its jets "in the air" and now North Korea is getting in on the fun as well. A glamour shot of the nation's recent hovercraft exercise shows a couple of its models looking suspiciously similar. More »
