This Song's Rhythm Is Inspired by Neil Armstrong's Heartbeat on the Moon
Jul 20, 12:00AM
Forty-five years ago today, a man landed on the moon for the first time. Understandably, he was a little nervous. But as he made that great leap for mankind and walked around the moon, his heart steadied and slowed. The rhythm of his heartbeat, which Berlin-based singer Louise Gold captured off of a radio program, become the basis for her cover of John Lennon's "Oh My Love."

Jul 19, 7:00PM
Poor Conan Antonio Motti. The guy speaks up at a work meeting, and all of a sudden Lord Vader is trying to put his lights out from across the room. But the worst part isn't the force-strangling or lack of faith. It's having to work alongside the jerk and pretend like nothing ever happened.

Jul 19, 6:00PM
What a week! We debunked some more of those dumb fake images you've seen on social media; we shot down the notion that smartphones will kill GoPro; we looked at the jet we could've had if we hadn't blown all that money on the F-35; and more!

Jul 19, 5:23PM
After the tragic crash of Malaysia Airlines flight 17 on Thursday, and amid the wall-to-wall news coverage, I began to wonder about something we don't typically see on the news — How do these incidents affect pilots? I reached out to my pilot friend, Mike to find out.

Dr. James McLurkin has a swarm of robots. Individually, they're not that smart, but a crateful of them behaves in some very complex ways, like the bees that inspired them. Gizmodo got to see the wee machines in action, and while they're adorable, they represent some serious future bot capabilities.

If you fold a paper in half 103 times it'll get as thick as the Universe
Jul 19, 7:15AM
The myth: You can't fold a paper in half more than eight times.* The reality: Given a paper large enough—and enough energy—you can fold it as many times as you want. The problem: If you fold it 103 times, the thickness of your paper will be larger than the observable Universe: 93 billion light-years. Seriously.

Jul 19, 5:15AM
I love calligraphy to the point in which I shiver with pleasure when I see someone writing beautifully—slowly and carefully. I'd have liked to see Turkish calligrapher Tolga Girgin making these 3D writings spotted by Colossal.

The red car cuts off the dash cam and skids by. And then the original grey van zooms into the intersection and gets smashed sideways by a bus and an SUV.

Jul 19, 12:21AM
Scotty Bob, the crazy guy zipping the air in the wingsuit, is flying so fast you might miss it but he comes so impossibly close to scraping the mountain on some of his turns that he can pretty much high five the photographer taking a picture of him.
UnHung Hero: A Film of, Well, Moderately Small Proportions
Jul 19, 12:00AM
It's man's most-pondered question: Does size matter?
