Sep 04, 11:02AM
This font, called Phone Streak, might not be the most practical typeface in the world, but it was probably the most fun to create—because it was put together by capturing long exposures of an iPhone being swept through the air.

I'd Buy This Google Games Console In A Heartbeat
Sep 04, 7:00AM
There's no such thing as a Google games console. The company has enough on its plate with Android as it is. But if it were to enter the market itself, well, it could do a lot worse than this effort.
The Different Shades in This Picture Are Actually Painted in Real Life
Sep 04, 5:00AM
What's going on in this picture? Did the photographer add some special lens? Is this some kooky Instagram filter? Is the camera defective? Was it photoshopped? Maybe folded over and over? Nope. The stripes inside the photograph are actually painted like that in real life.

When Should You Use Emoji?
Sep 04, 3:00AM
To me, the answer to the question of when you should use emoji is an emphatic always. But I get it, if you're texting something important to a humorless prick, a top hat with a lipstick kiss and prayer hands might not be well received. So follow this flowchart created by artist and friend of Gizmodo Wendy MacNaughton and Caroline Paul to figure out proper emoji etiquette.

Did Google Accidentally Leak the Next Nexus Phone?
Sep 03, 11:03PM
Well, would you look at that. In Google's unveiling video of the new Kit Kat statue of Android, a mysterious Nexus phone appears in the hands of a Googler taking a picture of said Kit Kat statue. It doesn't look like any Nexus phone we've ever seen, the Nexus logo is horizontal, the camera seems significantly larger and the size and finish looks completely different from the Nexus 4.
WWI's Amateur Hour Death Bot Brigade
Sep 03, 10:12PM
John Ptak recently posted an interesting 1916 cover from Illustrated World magazine showing the futuristic "Electric Titan" robot fighter. Though rarely in humanoid robot form, the multi-soldier death machine of tomorrow was a surprisingly common idea during World War I. Why so outlandish? Because the military predictions of the time were rarely made by the actual military.

Dressing Up For the Reaper: How Embalming Makes the Dead Look Alive
Sep 03, 8:31PM
President Abraham Lincoln died on April 15th, 1865, mere hours after John Wilkes Booth inflicted the mortal gunshot wound, but his body had to survive a 19-day train ride across the country before being laid to rest in Springfield, Ill. And thanks to a recent discovery by a Union surgeon, the president looked as serene when he arrived as when he left. Death is never pretty, but we sure can come close.

The tragedy of Parkinson's, which progressively robs patients of their physical abilities, is that while certain drugs, therapies and devices can restore some quality of life, so far we haven't found a way to stop brain cells from dying. Now, researchers in the UK and Norway have found a drug that could keep brain cells functioning normally — and it's been used to treat liver disease for years.
