There's a reason Xbox One comes in that whopping great 1980s VCR style case, and it's not because some one in authority at Microsoft went mad. It's for cooling, to help keep it quiet and reliable—and so you can leave it switched on constantly for the next ten years.

The Weirdest Thing on the Internet Tonight: You Only Live Twice
Aug 01, 4:00AM
Uh oh, looks like somebody's got a serious case of space madness. Either that or Nancy Sinatra's siren song has already taken hold of his senses. Either way, this stranded astronaut is royally screwed. The creatives over at Wildlife.la crafted this Gulliverian tale of interplanetary exploration and eventual psychosis.
Can You Guess the Movies That These Lego Models Are Recreating?
Aug 01, 3:30AM
This is so fun. Amazing Lego artist Nick Desimone recreated famous movies and TV shows using Lego bricks. The minimalist style of his work will sometimes make you second guess yourself but Desimone's art is such a perfect imagination of the movies that you'll eventually see what he wants you to see.
How Many of These 79 Words Can You Actually Pronounce?
Aug 01, 2:30AM
I make an ass out of myself at least twice a month from butchering the pronunciation of a word. It's always embarrassing! There's only two things you can do when you have no idea how to say something, either quietly whisper but quickly gloss over the word so no one hears you or say it with such complete confidence that you confuse the hell out of people who really do know how it's pronounced.
These Star Wars Parkour Guys Are Probably Real Life Jedis
Aug 01, 1:30AM
If you dress up like a Jedi on a day that's not October 31st (even if it is October 31st, actually), you're probably going to be branded a geek. Wear that proudly! But if you dress up like a Jedi and do parkour tricks in the freaking desert like bouncing off rocks and double backflips and triple spins all while looking like you're in a chase sequence for the next Star Wars movie, well, you're an AWESOME geek that everyone is proud of.
What a Timelapse Would Have Looked Like When Dinosaurs Were Alive
Aug 01, 12:30AM
This video is pretty bizarre but hey who doesn't like dinosaurs, mammoths, dragons, giant bugs and timelapse videos? The timelapse video was shot at Borrego Springs, California, a small town that fiercely protects the darkness of the night sky by regulating outdoor lighting. It's apparently 1 of 4 communities in the world that are considered an official 'Dark Sky Community'.
How Horrified Are You by Your Facebook Search History?
Jul 31, 10:20PM
If you'll recall way back in September, Facebook started keeping track of every single time you compulsively searched for that one (or two, or three, or eight) special person you just can't get off your mind. But almost as quickly as Facebook search history emerged from the darkest recesses of hell to remind us all of how neurotic we really are, people were pretty much able to forget about it and go back to their excessive stalking.
Commercial Break for iOS: Skip Commercials Without Missing the Good Stuff
Jul 31, 10:00PM
No one likes commercials—that's why god made DVR. But sometimes (like with sports games, specifically) you just can't wait for it to record before diving in. You need to know RIGHT THEN. But if you get up and wander away, you might wander for too long. What's a TV junkie to do? Commercial Break has the answer.
Tokyo Will Retrofit Its Skyscrapers To Prep For the Next Big Quake
Jul 31, 9:53PM
Mass dampers—the gigantic weights designed to counteract swaying in skyscrapers—are usually installed during the construction process. But today, a Japanese real estate company announced plans to install six of the devices atop a 39-year-old building in downtown Tokyo. If all goes well, they could pop up on tall buildings all over the world.

NASA's Spaceship Factory Is Unfathomably Huge
Jul 31, 9:20PM
Now that the Space Shuttle program is over, NASA is remodeling the Vehicle Assembly Building where they were built. It's a huge building, one of the largest in the world. How huge? Here's some info to (maybe) help put it into perspective:
From Shock Chairs to Smell-O-Vision: The Movie Gimmicks of Yesteryear
Jul 31, 9:08PM
Have you ever been to a movie so shocking that the theater management offered you a life insurance policy just in case you died of fright? Filmmaker William Castle devised a scheme that did just that for the release of his 1958 suspense/horror film Macabre. Thankfully, they never had to pay out.

Hello, Smart Bike: Hands On With Lapierre's Intelligent Suspension
Jul 31, 8:02PM
If you rode a mountain bike in the 1980s or 90s, suspension was just a dream—something only the rich kids could afford. Gradually, though, it became a must-have feature for serious trail riders. It began with shocks in the front fork, and later evolved to full suspension with shocks on both wheels—and eventually, spring-driven suspension gave way to pneumatic. But there was a problem.
