There Is Such Thing As a Cockroach Cam and It's Just As Gross As You'd Imagine

Apr 05, 1:00AM

If you're one of those people who feel as if you're undeserving of love and/or enjoy torturing yourself for fun, here's something new to add to your self-mutilation bag o' tricks: watch a 24/7/365 Cockroach Cam. It's like watching a bunch of cam girls go about their daily lives only the opposite of that because those cam girls would actually be disgusting cockroaches that hiss and scream and make your stomach churn. It's the worst thing on the Internet right now. I also can't stop watching. More »

Apr 05, 12:00AM

Facebook announced a phone! No, Facebook just announced Facebook Home. Facebook announced a home? No, it's just a home screen. Hmm... what would a real Facebook home actually look like? The guys at Joy of Tech wondered just that and created a comic that shows what Facebook distilled into a home would look like. Foundation built by Winklevii, open doors because no privacy, tunnels for "friends" to come in, Instagram cameras set up at the dinner table and so much more. More »

Watching a Hummingbird in Slow Motion Is Still Pretty Majestic

Apr 04, 11:20PM

Slow motion was invented to capture every single thing in slow motion. Explosions, cheetahs, robots, people and of course, hummingbirds. The detail you see in slow motion is always better than real life. What's amazing though is that even when you slow down a hummingbird, those damn birds still seem fast. But ticking down those wings for just a little bit brings out something new in them. They look so graceful! More »

Grade School Bullies Should Train On This Resilient Balancing Bot

Apr 04, 7:40PM

Unless it's been brought to life by Disney or Pixar, it's hard to feel much empathy for robots, particularly the emotionless cyborg experiments being developed around the country. But not this little guy. Designed to stay on its feet no matter what happens, you can't help but feel a little sad as you watch these researchers push, prod, and bully it like a nerdy fifth grader. Watching Potato Chips Being Made Is as Addictive as Eating Them

Apr 04, 6:06PM

NPR has a nice little video feature about Herrs potato chips being made, and it's worth taking a few minutes to watch. But the real stars are the animated gifs of the machinery at work. I can't look away. I want to watch a machine that makes chips all day while another machine feeds them to me, constantly, forever. [NPR] More »
